First of all thank you for spending your time for this interview.
1-Let’s begin with a standard question, how did you become a wrestling fan, and how did you get into the business?
– I think the moment I became a wrestling fan was not like most others experience. You see a lot of people I talk to say “oh stone cold or the rock got me into wrestling.” I grew up on wrestling and my mom’s brother, my uncle Wayne was 8 years older than me when I was born so he was like an older brother. Growing up Wayne loved wrestling and in turn so did I. he took me to lots of live events and indie shows when I was little but it was the first time I seen the Macho Man live I wanted to be a wrestler. He was so entertaining and made you involved into what was going on. So from that point on I knew I had to be a wrestler.
So as the years went by wrestling was not popular yet so if someone at school found out you like wrestling they would make fun of you. It wasn’t until stone cold became popular was when my other friends started taking interest in wrestling and we started our own backyard fed lol I know what you’re thinking backyard wrestling? I believe everyone did it hahaha and to be honest it was the best time of wrestling ever, because it was all about fun and doing cool stuff with your friends. But from that is when I found out that I could go to a school and get trained and be able to wrestle not just during the summer time when it was hot out but all year round. So I looked into schools and signed up to one and started training and the rest I guess is history.
2-What do you think a pro-wrestler must have?
– I think a pro-wrestler must have a drive and passion for wrestling, you need to be able to bring to the table something that no one else is bring and command the short time you have out in front of the crowd.
3=Not a a long time ago, you had a developement contract with the WWE, how did you get that?
–it was 2006 and earlyer that year I started working for Harley Race. At the time Harley got me a few bookings with WWE as an extra but nothing happen out of that and I went on my way. It wasn’t until I did the Pro wrestling Noah camp for Harley was when I caught the eye of WWE and the head of developmental at the time Nova from ECW. He booked me on 3 more WWE TVs and on the second one I talked to Mr. Kennedy who I known from the Chicago Midwest indie scene growing up. He told me to go up to Johnny Ace and tell him what I want and if he could make it happen. So when I seen him I went straight up to him and said hello told him my goals and what I wanted and asked what can he do for me. He gave me some nice words and said he would see me the next time I was there. The next day Nova called me and said I had a week tryout at DSW. I when there worked my ass off and at the end of the week had a match with one of their guys. After that match everyone said how good it was and I had a job just wait for the call. A few weeks later Nova called and I had a job and I was moving to GA to work with DSW it was a great day.
4-Was there a big difference to wrestle for DSW and FCW instead of wrestling in the Indy Scene?
–there was a huge difference, on the indies I had the mind set to go out there and have the best match on the card make everyone work to top my match. On the Indies there’s guys that want to go out there every second of the day and tear it up and work hard. Being in developmental I had to learn that if I was on early not to do so much and dumb down the matches so that the main event could be the best match. My thinking was that if the guys in the main can’t have the best match then maybe you put the wrong guys in that spot. I had fun every second I was there it’s just I seen so many guys walk in the door there that didn’t love wrestling but on the indies you won’t find one person that doesn’t love it that was the biggest difference.
5-Why did you get released by the WWE and how did you feel after that?
– The phone call that released me from WWE lasted 32 seconds. 32 seconds that changed my life. I got the call was told that I was let go. They said I was young and maybe I can come back in a few years and that was it. 6 of us got let go that day and it sucked, I felt like crap because it was a dream that was ending.
6-Now you wrestle again in the indie scene and you debuted in CZW, here you are now a real shooting star, is there a difference between CZW and other indie promotions?
–CZW is so fun, the production, the guys in the back, the fans, and the arena is what sets it apart from all the Indies out there. I look forward to going CZW each month.
7-In CZW you won this year the Best of the Best, the Jr. Heavyweigt and the Ironman Title, congratiolations for that. Could you descripe your feelings at the evening you won the Best of the Best and held two titles at the same time?
–it was awesome it made coming back to the indies enjoyable. CZW took a chance on a guy that not many did once I came back. On a side not When I got home my dad took the trophy and but it in his house in his main room so when people walk In they see it lol so that was cool.
8-You are a Wrestler who takes high risks, are you doing this for your self, for the „kick“ or for the ovations?
–I say it’s both, I get a huge joy when I pull something off that most people cant and survive. And the ovations makes it better cause then I know I didn’t do it for nothing, if the fans are happy and see the risks we take then it will never end.
9-Your gimmick of Ego Fantastico is very exotic. How did you get that gimmick? Or how did you get the idea for that?
–to tell the truth I got the gimmick when I was backyard wrestling, I had the mask made and I would just run around with it and be a goof. It wasn’t until we were short on guys was when my friend ken told me to use my mask. So we needed a name for the gimmick so we thought and thought and ken goes you have to use the last name fantastico and u have a big ego so call yourself egotistico fantastic lol and it stuck throughout the year, but it wasn’t until a year into wrestling was when I came into my own and developed that Ego gimmick everyone knows today, I credit a lot of it to help from Colt Cabana who had helped me become the wrestler I am today.
10-Are you a big fan of Lucha Libre like CMLL or AAA?
– yeah a huge fan, they have a lot of guys that are amazing and fun to watch I would love to work there one day.
11-If you could book yourself into a dream match, against which wrestler would it be?
–the first would be Hayabusa hes a huge influence on me, the second is Taka hes ones of my favorites as well.
12 If you could change soemething in the wrestling bussiness, what would it be?
–I would want wrestling to be a popular as it was 4 years ago when all the indies were drawing huge houses. It was a good time for wrestling
13 Could you tell something about the privat man behind the mask?
–nope.. lol no I’m just like everyone else I love funny movies metal music and eating junk food. Its just I wear tights and jump off high things on weekends J
14 Do you have any interesting or funny roadstory you could tell us?
– one time this girl passed out sleeping and we put a candy bar in the back of her pants so when she woke up It melted and she thought she pooped her pants. As she had the messed up look on her face like oh my I pooped my pants I don’t want anyone to know we rushed her out the door cause we needed to get a flight home, she flew all the way home with the fake poop in her pants and when she got home shes like u jerks I thought I pooped my paints lol
15How will the future look for Egoistico Fantastico?
–its looking good lets hope the rest of this year and the next works out great.
16Do you have a message for your fans in Germany?
-Yes I do… sorry that my trip this month didn’t take place but when I get there the wait will be worth it.
17Last but not least, the typical wordassosiation game:
-WWE - a place I hope I go back to
-CZW - amazing company
–Lucha Libre - cassandro lol
-Taco - extra sour cream and guack
-Best of the Best –best time of 2009 I had…
