Neben der UFC Women`s Bantamweight Division (135 Pounds) und der UFC Women`s Strawweight Division (115 Pounds), wird es erstmal keine weitere Gewichtsklasse bei den Frauen geben, das sagte zumindest UFC President Dana White. Zuvor gab es Geruechte um eine Women`s Flyweight Division (125 Pounds), nach dem im Juni der erste 125 Pounds Fight bei den Frauen stattfand (Joanne Calderwood vs Valerie Letourneau). Dana White meinte jetzt dazu:
Joe Rogan und Brendan Schaub haben sich inzwischen dafuer ausgesprochen das die UFC eine 145 Pounds Division fuer Cris Cyborg einfuehrt.
In dem Zusammenhang bestaetigte Dana White auch das Ronda Rousey auf Cris Cyborg treffen will:
Zitat:“In relation to the expansion … I think it’s inevitable, because the sport will continue to grow, but we have no plans to do so in the near future.
Unless something explodes in the coming years… At this point, I think the strawweight division is getting more exciting with more talent emerging, but in relation to the heavier divisions, no, I do not see it happening. I do not see that happening anytime soon.
If the 115-pound and 135-pound divisions continue growing, then, yes, we could create the flyweight division.”
Zu einer Featherweight Division meinte White:
“There aren’t enough 145-pound female fighters to start a 145-pound division. Cyborg is one girl floating out there who has that type of star power. She headlined Brazil for us.”
