Bam Bam Bigelow ist tot!!!

Die Nachricht von Bigelow`s Tod ist mehr ein Schock wie eine Ueberraschung nach den letzten Jahren. Meine Lieblings Momente von Bigelow war zum einen bei NJPW mit Vader im Team anfang der 90er Jahre, und dann in Memphis als Bigelow gegen Jerry Lawler fehdete ende der 80er Jahre.

Als er 1992 zurueck in die WWF kam, da dachte ich das er der perfekte Monster Heel waere. Er hatte 1993 ein gutes Match mit Bret Hart, dann jedoch kamen immer mehr Verletzungen dazwischen. Das Match bei Wrestlemania 11 als Bigelow im Main Event gegen LT stand, war sein Karrierehoehepunkt, und aus Wrestler Sicht hat er damals LT hervorragend geleitet im Ring.

Bam Bam Bigelow wird mir aber auch in Erinnerung bleiben wegen seinem MMA Fight mit Kimo Leopoldo ende 1996. Kimo hat ihn komplett zerstoert in nichtmal drei Minuten. Wer es sich anschauen will hier das Video:

“He was a big man who could move, which was an amazing feat. He was unique in his style and appearance, and never left the ring without leaving everything he had out there. He was a very talented performer and will be missed.”

Jimmy Hart:
“I was actually on a radio show morning, and when I got off the show I found out about Bam Bam, and this is such a terrible, terrible loss for the wrestling world. Bam Bam was so unique and so different, and what a heck of a worker, just tremendous. Wow, just total shock.”

"He was a funny guy, a great guy to be around. He was a man. He was one of the best big men we ever had in this business. All I can say is that I wish the best for his family."

Ist eigentlich mittlerweile schon genaueres zur Todesursache bekannt? Ich persönliche vermute ja ganz stark irgendetwas mit dem Herzen. Bam Bam war während seiner Karriere Oxycodon Abhängig, ein starkes Schmerzmittel. Ich kann aber auch nicht sagen, ob er es geschafft hat, die Sucht zu besiegen.

Ich sah Bam Bam Bigelow auch immer gern im Ring, es gibt nicht viele Worker die mit so einem Körper so beweglich sind und solche Moves ausführen konnten. Der geschichtsträchtige ECW-Moment als Bam Bam mit
Tazz durch den Ringboden krachte war der Hammer, oder wie er Spike Dudley in die Zuschauermenge warf und die Fans Spike auf den Händen durch die Halle trugen.

Sehr schade, dass schon wieder ein Wrestler im relativ jungen Alter von uns ging.
