Hier mal meine Meinung zu den bisherigen Shows die ich sah:

-Show 1:
Dave Meltzer lobte das Okada vs Styles Match in den Himmel (sagte das es Styles bestes Match in seiner Karriere ist), ich fand es solide, aber nicht so gut wie es gemacht wurde. Das Buildup im Match war nicht gut (Zuschauerreaktion gleich Null bei Okada`s Comeback). Ansonsten Bad Luck Fale ist mieserabel. Seine Offensive ist schlecht, und ich kann kaum glauben das man so jemand pusht. Ansonsten habe ich wenig Interesse an Takahashi, Tenzan, Kojima Benjamin, Gallows, Archer, Anderson, oder Fale. Roster ist dieses Jahr insgesamt schlecht, aber das ist die heutige Zeit bei New Japan. Zu den positiveren Leuten zaehlen bei mir Okada, Ishii, Tanahashi, Nakamura, und Naito. Shibata vs Nakamura war solide und hat mir gefallen bei dieser Show.

-Show 2:
Show fand ich besser wie die erste Show. Allerdings war Benjamin vs Fale ein mieserables Match. Kojima fiel mir auch auf das er sehr schlecht war an dem Tag. Nakamura vs DBS fand ich solide, und selbst Styles vs Yano hat mich unterhalten.

-Show 3:
Show 3 hatte einige Highlights, und einige Lowlights, wobei die Lowlights wirklich crap waren. Fale vs Nagata war schon ein Kandidat fuer das schlechteste NJ Match das ich seit Jahren sah. Habe ich schon gesagt das Bad Luck Fale mieserabel ist? Kann man nicht haeufig genug erwaehnen. Seine Offensive ist schlecht, er hat kein Timing, keine Kondition, keine Psychology, arghh…. Archer vs Anderson fand ich auch sehr schlecht. Tanahashi vs Kojima hatte ein paar positive Seiten und Makabe vs Okada fand ich solide.

-Show 4:
Beste Show bisher. Ishii vs Honma war ein kurzes aber gutes Match. Styles vs Naito war solide, aber das Match haette besser sein koennen. Shibata vs Tanahashi hat mir gefallen, Nagata war auch mal wieder gut gegen Nakamura, was selten genug der Fall geworden ist.

-Show 5:
Wahnsinn, der ueberpushte Benjamin verliert sein erstes Match. Fale schaffte es sogar seine schlechteste Leistung in dem Tournament zu zeigen, das hielt ich nach Show #3 gar nicht fuer moeglich und dann darf er auch noch Tanahashi besiegen, DEAR GOD. Ich hasse es wenn schlechte Wrestler gepusht werden wo ich vorher schon weiss das die auch nicht drawen werden. Ein Goldberg Push konnte ich wenigstens akzeptieren, aber das hier ist unentschuldbar. Okada vs Naito und Nakamura vs Honma waren dagegen solide Matches. Was mir nicht gefaellt bei Okada ist das sein erster Rainmaker immer daneben geht, das ist zu auffaellig. Die Finishing Sequenz der Okada Matches beginnt mich aufzuregen.

Fazit bisher:
Ich finde es unglaublich wie Shelton Benjamin und Bad Luck Fale ueberpusht werden. Der G-1 Climax gefaellt mir bisher nicht gut. Zu viele schlechte Wrestler und Leistungen, und die Teilnehmerliste ist leider eine der schlechteren in der G-1 Climax Geschichte. Hoffentlich werden wenigstens am Ende die richtigen Leute (Naito *Wink-Wink* gepusht). Bisher die besten Matches waren fuer mich Nakamura vs Shibata (Show 1), Honma vs Ishii, Tanhashi vs Shibata und Styles vs Naito (Show 4).

Meine 2 Cents zu Show 6 bis 8:

Show 6:
Schlechte Show insgesamt. Das Gallows vs Fale Match suckte. Kojima vs Shibata gefiel mir nicht, Shibata no sellt jeden Back Drop Suplex in jedem Match, das nervt mich. Genauso wie das in jedem Match draussen gebrawlt wird. Das faellt einem erst Richtig auf wenn man so viel New Japan Shows nacheinander sieht. Nakamura vs Benjamin war ein Match wo man gut sieht wie out of place Shelton Benjamin wirkt. Styles vs Tenzan fand ich gut. Styles hat ein starkes Tournament, er zeigt was er kann. Schade das er so viele Jahre bei TNA verschwendete.

Show 7:
Starke Zuschauer in der Korakuen Hall. Styles vs Suzuki war das beste Match bisher im Tournament und ein Match of the Year Kandidat. Hier nervte das Eingreifen/Referee Bump mal nicht und Suzuki zeigte wie jedes Jahr ein Mal das wenn er motiviert ist immer noch starke Matches haben kann. Die ersten 4 Matches der Show waren nicht gut, Tenzan vs Goto war okay, Honma zog Fale in dem Match, aber Fale bleibt mieserabel. Makabe vs Naito entaueschte mich, haette ich mehr erwartet. Nagata vs Shibata war dann okay wenn Shibata nicht eine der Dinge machte die nerven…also no Selling. Ishii vs Nakamura war das zweibeste Match der Show.

Show 8:
Starker Main Event wie zu erwarten war. Ishii vs Davey Boy Smith Jr. war auch ein solider Opener, der beste Opener bisher. DBS Jr. hat noch einen weiten Weg, aber er zeigt hier und da das er Potential hat. Styles zeigt gegen Archer auch wieder eine starke Leistung. Wenn nichts mehr passiert ist Styles der Tournament MVP und ein guter Kandidat fuer Wrestler des Jahres 2014, und das kommt von jemandem der Styles nicht Mal leiden kann. Aber er zeigt so starke Leistungen gegen jeden Gegner in dem Tournament, oft total unterschiedliche Matches, ganz starkes Tournament von ihm. Noch Mal die Anmerkung, wie bescheuert muss TNA sein das sie das mit Styles so versaut haben? Shibata vs Honma gefiel mir, super Story die zu beiden passt, auch zu dem bisherigen Tournament. Insgesamt drei gute bis sehr gute Matches. Show 8 war bisher die beste Show fuer mich.

Meltzer meinte folgendes:“It was the best tournament ever prior to Friday. It's something completely beyond that now. The last two nights were not just two of the best shows of the year, but they're probably two of the five best shows I've ever seen. This is the greatest tournament in pro wrestling history and it's not even a close call. Last years' was the best I'd ever seen and this year blows away last year.”

Meltzer ist completely sold. Imo ist es lange nicht das beste Tournament das ich sah, nicht mal der beste G-1 Climax. Meltzer selbst gibt zu das er etliche Japanische Tournaments der 90er Jahre verpasst hat und man darf auch nicht vergessen das der G-1 Climax erst seit ein paar Jahren die Berichterstattung und die Aufmerksamkeit in Nord Amerika bekommt. Auch das der G-1 Climax seit kurzem erst Live gesehen werden kann veraendert viel. Der diesjaehrige G-1 Climax hat starke Momente, Leistungen und Matches, aber es gibt auch viel Dreck.

Meltzer hat ueber den diesjaehrigen G-1 Climax glaube ich 4-5 Matches schon als MOTY Kandidaten bezeichnet, wovon ich vielleicht eines sehe. Normalerweise sollte man ein Match zweimal schauen bevor man es den Title MOTY Kandidat verleiht.

Meltzer lobt auch das Booking das beim diesjaehrigen G-1 Climax ein paar Title Contender aufgebaut werden. Das stimmt zwar, aber das kann man auch anders booken wie das zum Beispiel ein mieserabler Wrestler wie Fale gegen Tanahashi und Shibata gewinnt, und dann gegen Doc Gallows verliert. Das ist fuer mich kein gutes Booking. Gallows Sieg ueber Fale bedeutet nichts, weil mit einem Fale vs Gallows Programm kein Geld gemacht werden kann. Und Fale`s Push wird am Ende auch nichts bringen weil er mieserabel ist.

So fuer mich ist er nur durchschnitt, und ich denke wenn Meltzer einige alte Tournaments sich anschauen wuerde, wuerde er seine Aussagen aendern. Der heilige Krall der Wrestling Tournaments ist fuer mich immer noch der 1995er Champions Carnival.

Meltzer hat im uebrigen auch gesagt das es niemanden bei WWE gibt der auch nur annaehrend ein 4 Star Match unter 10 Minuten zeigen koennte, und das der beste WWEler bei NJPW nicht Mal unter den Top Ten waere. Nun, ich bin ja schon WWE Kritisch, aber das halte ich fuer uebertrieben. Okay, New Japan ist auch nicht mehr das was es war.

Imo overhyped Dave Meltzer momentan NJPW extrem. Das witzige ist, das Dave vor einigen Jahren NOAH overhypte, und viele New Japan Fans sauer waren. Und jetzt overhyped er New Japan, obwohl die Qualitaet nicht zu vergleichen ist mit den 90er Jahren.

Das Nakamura vs Okada Finale ueberrascht mich. Es war irgendwann klar das die letzten vier Nakamura, Okada, Tanahashi, Styles sein werden, aber ich dachte das man Nakamura vs Okada bei der Tokyo Dome Show macht und nicht hier beim Finale. Fuer mich sind Nakamura vs Okada und Tanahashi vs Styles die zwei groessten Matches die NJPW noch hat, und man macht beide Matches bei EINER Show die man auch nur zwei Tage Zeit hat zu promoten.

Vor dem Finale wuerde ich bereits sagen das AJ Styles der MVP war, abgesehen von 1-2 schlechteren Abenden hatte er starke Leistungen und ueberraschte mich auch. Nakamura gefiel mir auch sehr oft. Von Okada war ich insgesamt entauescht. Wenn man ihn so oft in so kurzer Zeit sieht, dann merkt man deutlich das er nicht Vielfaeltig ist. Okada hat seinen Stil, seinen Aufbaue, seine Moves, und da ist er sehr gut drin, aber er kann nicht davon abweichen.

Das Tournament hatte starke Matches und auch sehr viel crap (Lance Arche und Bad Luck Fale waren unterirdisch). Die letzte Show wird entscheiden ob ich das Tournament zu den solideren oder den schlechten G-1 Climax Shows sehen werde.

Dave Meltzer meinte:“With two shows remaining, the 2014 G-1 Climax has clearly taken its place in pro wrestling history as the greatest tournament in the history of the industry.” Nicht ein einziges Mal beim schauen kam mir in den Sinn das ich ein super Tournament anschaue, vom besten Tournament aller Zeiten erst gar nicht zu reden.

Ich glaube das liegt daran wie man sich Wrestling anschaut. Ich denke es gibt zwei Arten wie man Wrestling anschauen kann:
1. Man geniesst die Show und bewertet es wie man die Show bzw. das Match im Moment erlebt hat.
2. Man schaut sich Wrestling als Kunstform an. Wie etwa ein Film, ein Konzert oder aehnliches das man sich anschaut/anhoert nicht unbedingt um es zu geniessen, sondern um die Kunst dahinter zusehen und vielleicht im historischen Kontext es zu bewerten.

Natuerlich kann man beides auch kombinieren. Meltzer schaut imo sich eher es an wie im Beispiel 1, und bewertete das Tournament als das beste aller Zeiten weil es das Tournament war das er am meisten genossen hat. So Meltzer sieht keinen Grund ueberhaupt andere Tournaments sich anzuschauen um den historischen Kontext zu bekommen. Ich schaue mir dagegen Wrestling oft wie im Beispiel 2 an. Fuer mich im historischen Kontext ist der G-1 Climax 2014 mittelmass. 1991, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1998 wuerde ich alle klar besser sehen vom kurzen Format und vom laengeren Format 2002-2004. Es gab kein Match das zum Beispiel auch nur annaehrend an Misawa vs Kawada, Kawada vs Taue oder Misawa vs Taue vom CC 1995 heran kommt. Und es gab jede Menge schlechte Matches beim diesjaehrigen G-1 Climax.

Okada vs Nakamura war solide, aber nicht mehr. Das Finale war mir zu sehr WWE Main Event Finish like, also Finisher Tease, Blockieren, Konter, Near Falls, wieder Finisher usw usw. Einfach eine lange Finishing Sequenz. Es gab einige gute Spots waehrend der Sequenz, und die Zuschauer waren hot, es ist nur nicht mein cup of tea.

Tanahashi vs Styles war solide, aber ich denke die beiden koennen bessere Matches zusammen haben. Das am Ende wieder ein Run In gibt, hasse ich, und das Jarrett jetzt auch noch bei New Japan auftritt und Bullet Club Member ist, oh dear…solchen Soap Opera Bullshit will ich in Japan nicht sehen.

Goto vs Shibata war das uebliche No Psychology, No Selling, Stiff Fest.

Ishii vs Anderson war nicht gut, weil Ishii nie haette antreten duerfen, der war fertig bevor das Match began.

Aufgrund der Berichterstattung habe ich nun auch mal mein Auge auf den G1 Climax geworfen und spiele mit dem Gedanken mir das gesamte Turnier mal demnächst anzuschauen. Kannst du es empfehlen Nef?

Habe mich so gut wie nie mit japanischen Wrestling beschäftigt, außer vor drei Jahren etwas mit NOAH. Aufgrund von Zeitmangel schaue ich in den letzten Jahren nur noch WWE.

Also was ich jedem Pro Wrestling Fan generell empfehlen wuerde waere, das man sich verschiedene Promotions mal anschaut. Vielleicht ist ja was dabei was einem gefaellt, und wenn nicht, hat man dennoch Erfahrung dazu gewonnen und bekommt vielleicht eine andere Perspektive, selbst wenn man weiterhin die eine Promotion schaut die einem gefaellt.

Demzufolge wuerde ich auch jedem empfehlen zumindest mal eine New Japan Show zusehen, weil es eben etwas anderes ist wie das Pro Wrestling in den USA, wobei sich das bei etlichen Sachen auch schon wieder geaendert hat.

Ein paar Shows vom G-1 Climax dieses Jahr kannst du dir denke ich anschauen. Zwischendrin waren zwar die besten Shows, aber vielleicht faengst du bei der ersten Show an, weil gerade bei NJPW ist das Continuity Booking gut zusehen in dem Tournament, was eben ganz anders ist wie von WWE.
