Tonight's main event features the unlikely matchup of the Road Warriors & Jeff Jarrett vs Triple X (Chris Daniels, Elix Skipper, and Low Ki). I'm guessing Daniels, Skipper, and Low Ki never thought they'd be in the ring with LOD. It's going to be a contrast of styles to say the least. Having those guys in the same match is probably the best example of the contrast between the "tradition" of the NWA and the next evolution of professional wrestling, or as Vince Russo calls it -- Sports Entertainment Xtreme.
Dusty Rhodes was the latest legend to make a surprise appearance on NWA-TNA: Total Nonstop Action. We say it almost every week, but you should always expect the unexpected when it comes to NWATNA. Tonight's show will continue in the recent trend of surprises, and there's something extra special planned that should be of interest to longtime fans of the NWA.
I thought Mike Tenay did an absolutely terrific job last week and I'm looking forward to tonight's one on one interview that he will be conducting with Vince Russo. The opening segment of last week's show was one of my favorite segments we've produced since our launch. Tenay did a great job of setting the stage for what was to come later in the evening when he made his plea for any former NWA World Champions to step forward to help in the battle against Russo. Dusty Rhodes stepped up to answer that plea, and will be a big part of tonight's show.
Fans around the world will begin having the opportunity to view our programming this week. Star World will be airing two one hour shows each week featuring edited footage of our pay-per-view programs (beginning with the June 26 show). Star World is available in the following markets: Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Middle East, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.
We received several inquiries about the TNA training school that we expect to launch in the near future. The launch is tentatively planned for sometime in February and students will be trained by Jerry Lynn, Chris Harris, Ron Harris, Chase Stevens, and other TNA stars. The Amazing Red will not be on the show tonight because of schedule conflicts. Red is currently on tour in Japan and had been expected to return to the United States in time for a scheduled match against Sonny Siaki. A change in his schedule for the Japan tour now has him returning to the United States later this week and he is expected to be back on the January 22 broadcast. Sonny Siaki will be on tonight's show and will defend the X Title.
We had a great meeting on Tuesday with representatives of the NWA. NWA President Rich Arpin, NWA Vice President Fred Rubenstein, and NWA Board of Directors member Alvin Minnick met with us at the TNA offices in Nashville and Arpin and Rubenstein will be in attendance at tonight's show.
If you taped the December 18 program, go back and take a close look at the backstage segment where Jeff Jarrett and AJ Styles are brawling in the dressing room. There's an interesting blooper that gave away the Road Warriors surprise....but I didn't see any talk about it online, and it apparently happened so quick that nobody caught it.
Jeremy Borash is planning to organize a softball team for next season. Investigative reporters need not apply.
If you had one of the winning bids for the recent Silent Auction you will be hearing from us within the next few days to make arrangements for your prize. Winners who bid on appearances on the pay-per-view will be staggered over several weeks and the appearances will be coordinated with talent schedules.
