Die Boston Bruins bauen weiter am Team der Zukunft, nachdem sie schon Zdeno Chara und Marc Savard hollten und lange Vertraege gaben, haben die Bruins nun Patrice Bergeron einen Vertrag ueber 5 Jahre gegeben. Der 21 jaehrige wird in den kommenden 5 Jahren $23,75 Millionen verdienen, in der kommenden Season sind es $4,75 Millionen. In der letzten Season erzielte er 31 Tore und 73 Punkte fuer die Bruins, Bergeron spielte bereits in den vergangenen drei Jahren in Boston. 2003 wurde er im Entry Draft als #45 gezogen von den Bruins und stellte sich somit als late steal heraus.
Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli meinte:“Patrice is an outstanding young player with a tremendous future. He is an offensive threat every time he is on the ice, has great defensive instincts and he plays a physical game without taking a lot of penalties. With all that he has already accomplished, he will continue to grow as a player and we are very pleased that he will do so in a Bruins uniform.”
