Die Boston Bruins haben ihren Head Coach Dale Lewis entlassen, das gab Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli bekannt. Ausserdem wurde Assistant Coach Marc Habscheid ebenfalls seiner Position enthoben, bei beiden besteht jedoch die moeglichkeit das sie bei den Bruins bleiben in einer anderen Funktion. Als Grund fuer die Entlassung von Lewis meinte Chiarelli das das Team zu unkonstant war in der letzten Season. Chiarelli meinte das er nicht erwartet hat das das Team super spielt, nur das man konstanter ist.
Chiarelli meinte am Freitag auf der Pressekonferenz:“I have great respect for both of those men and what they've done in the past and what I think they will accomplish in the future. You see a level of play that you expect and want and it teases you, and obviously something wasn't getting through.”
Die Boston Bruins waren sogar im Playoffrennen, doch dann war man 1-10-1 in den letzten 12 Spielen der Season. Mit 289 Toren bekam man zudem die zweitmeisten Tore in der NHL herein, und mit 217 Toren die man selbst schoss, war man immerhin siebtletzter. Insgesamt war Dale Lewis bei seiner einzigen Season bei den Boston Bruins 35-41-6. Zuvor war er bereits von 2002 bis 2004 Head Coach bei den Detroit Red Wings.
