Bob Ryder Artikel
#1

Hello again from a chilly Nashville TN! We're in the midst of a Winter Storm Warning and the area is expected to receive freezing rain, sleet, and snow throughout the day. That will make the roads treacherous for talent and fans and hopefully everyone will arrive safely for tonight's event.

Tonight's program has a chance to be one of our best. One match I'm looking forward to is the four way double elimination X Division match involving AJ Styles, Amazing Red, Kid Kash, and EZ Money. We had a match like this one on our second broadcast and that match ranks up there as one of my favorite since we launched. Hopefully tonight's match will be just as good.

Jeff Jarrett and Jeremy Borash will be leaving Thursday for a trip to Europe where they will both be involved in a WWA event run by Andrew McManus. The WWA tour features the long awaited return to the ring of former NWA/WCW Champion Sting, and from what we've been told he's in excellent shape and is receiving enthusiastic responses from fans attending the events.

The last couple of weeks our shows have included some unscripted and spontaneous moments. Last week's tirade from Mike Tenay is a perfect example. He was speaking from his heart, not a script. We're going to continue with this approach and it should make for some interesting television.

Reaction is mixed, to say the least, to Vince Russo's involvement as an on-air talent on our shows. Whether you like him or not, and clearly a lot of people online have negative opinions of him, he has the potential of being someone we revolve a story around. He comes across as a pompous and arrogant jerk on camera and to tell you the truth...he's that way off camera too. He's just a natural heel. A lot of what he says absolutely drives traditional wrestling fans crazy to the point where they want to kill him. If some of those same traditional wrestling fans stop for a moment and think about the emotions they feel about Russo, they'll realize that their reaction is the same reaction that many of the great heels from the "good old days" inspired in fans. I can remember growing up watching wrestling on television with my grandmother and she would get so mad at something the "bad guy" would say or do that she would promise she would never watch wrestling again....but she was always back the next week hoping that one of her favorite wrestlers would put the jerk in his place. Flash forward to the year 2002 and not a lot has changed. Vince Russo drives some people literally up the wall. To quote Diamond Dallas Page....that's not a bad thing, that's a good thing.

We've been running ads for several weeks now on RAW in select markets. This past Monday we got one of our best "ads" yet during their main event match. Thanks!

Jerry Lynn cancelled weekend appearances after injuring his shoulder in last week's match with AJ Styles. He'll be on the show tonight but won't be 100%.

As I mentioned last week, Jeremy Borash is responsible for the fantastic video packages we've been running for the past several weeks. The dramatic music and sound effects he uses in these packages is something that has really made a difference in our shows.

DirecTV fans have several chances to see the show this week. The show airs live at the usual time of 8pm Eastern on Wednesday December 4, with a replay at 10:30pm Eastern. Additional replays will be airing on Friday December 6 at 6am, 8:30am, 11:00am, 1:30pm, 4:00pm, 6:30pm, 9:00pm, 11:30pm, and on Saturday December 7 at 2:00am. All showtimes will air on DirecTV channel 192.

iN Demand systems will carry tonight's broadcast at the usual time of 8pm Eastern on iN Demand 1 with a replay at 10pm Eastern on iN Demand 2. The replay on iN Demand 2 is especially popular with fans on the west coast. Check your local listings for the actual channel on your cable system.

We will begin offering DVD and VHS tapes on the website in the very near future. We get email every day from fans who are wanting tapes of our early shows, and we're hoping to have something available online within the next two weeks.

That's it for this week. I'll be back next week with more updates from backstage. Enjoy the show tonight!
