Der ehemalige UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz ist der naechste Fighter der in die UFC Hall of Fame aufgenommen wird. Das ganze soll am UFC 148 Wochenende stattfinden. Ortiz ist damit das neunte Mitglied der UFC Hall of Fame, zuvor wurde Matt Hughes 2010 als letztes aufgenommen.
Ortiz bestritt bisher 26 UFC Fights, und wird seinen letzten Fight gegen Forrest Griffin im Sommer bestreiten. Er verteidigte seinen UFC Light Heavyweight Title fuenfmal erfolgreich in Folge, was bisher immer noch ein Rekord ist.
UFC President Dana White auesserte sich wie folgt: “He pound for pound was doing some of the most damage at a time when we were hurting. But it’s part of our history the way the storylines played out between me, Chuck and Tito. He’s definitely a part of the history of the sport.”
