Wer sich schon fragte wann den Ernie Todd eine Klage einreicht gegen die “Rassisten“ in der NWA, der wird aus dem lachen nichtmehr rauskommen. Folgendes Statement gab Ernie Todd gestern bekannt:
“I do apologize to any of the members I have offended in the past. I do not consider the NWA to be a racist organization. I hastily made the statement out of a passion for all aboriginal peoples & I do apologize to those that feel my statement harmed the organization.
I hope this all can be put in the past & the NWA can continue to prosper.
Ernie Todd”
Nochmal das ist der selbe Mann der folgendes Statement veroeffentlichte, als er als NWA President zuruecktrat:
“It is with great regret that I am forced to tender my resignation as President of the NWA & from the NWA Board of Directors. I cannot be a part of a Board that attacks my race, my heritage, my family & everything else they can, with the purpose of running me off the Board so they can control the NWA. I apologize to all those members who support me & have supported me all these years by voting me on the BOD, 8 of the 9 years I have belonged to the NWA & supported me for the President bid last year. I have made many good friends on my NWA journey.
I cannot, nor will I tolerate being called a "Drug Store Indian" or being referred to as "Hiawatha" , nor will I allow certain members of the Board & certain members of the NWA, to constantly refer to my family in derogatary ways, nor will I allow idle threats to be made against my family by "power hungry" members of this BOD & the NWA for their own political purposes. They can call me names, play all their counter prodcutive games they want, I can handle that, but when you bring my family & race into it as a last resort, that to me is stepping over the line!!!
I am proud of my Aboriginal Heritage, proud of being bestowed the title of "Aboriginal Role Model", proud of my family & the accomplishments I have strived to achieve during my life & I will continue on the path that has been set our before me.
The goal of becoming the first Aboriginal President of what I thought was a respectful & tolerant organization, plus bringing the NWA 56th Anniversary Convention to Canada are goals I set & achieved. I do so to set an example for all Aboriginal youth, that they can achieve their goals if they lead a clean, healthy lifestyle by staying away from drugs & from alcohol abuse.
I will be considering my legal options as a result of this cowardly attack on my heritage & my legal options with the NWA & the individuals who made these comments. Attacks against one's race should not be tolerated in the society we all live in.
They wanted to force me out as President & they wanted to force me off the BOD, well now they have their wish. I have repeatedly asked for an apology & have pleaded with the membership to take action against the individuals who are making the racial slurs. The lack of action by the membership has forced me to resign from the BOD & as President.
I will not tolerate these types of offensive, racial comments any longer against my heritage.
A blockbuster announcement as to the future of the CWF in the coming weeks.
