Web Time Stamps Indicate Benoit Death Reported About 14 Hours Before Police Found Bodies
An anonymous user operating a computer traced to Stamford, Conn. — home to World Wrestling Entertainment — posted an entry to pro wrestler Chris Benoit's biography on Wikipedia.org announcing the death of his wife Nancy about 14 hours before police in suburban Atlanta said they found her body along with her husband's and that of their 7-year-old son, FOXNews.com has learned.

Employees at Wikipedia.com said the posting went live on their site on Monday at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Police, however, said they found the bodies Monday at 2:30 p.m. EDT.

Wikipedia.org's computers are set to record Standard and Universal Time, a spokesman told FOXNews.com.

The posting reads: “Chris Benoit was replaced by [[Johnny Nitro]] for the ECW Championship match at Vengeance, as Benoit was not there due to personal issues, stemming from the death of his wife Nancy.”

The posting was apparently made in reference to Benoit's scheduled appearance on Sunday night at an Extreme Championship Wrestling event in Texas, with the last phrase noted in red to indicate an edit made to the original entry.

An employee from Wikipedia.org told FOXNews.com that he called and left a message with investigative authorities in Fayetteville, Ga., at around 11 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, after the posting was brought to the attention of the St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Web site.

“I chat with other editors on IRC -- Internet relay chat -- and somebody pointed it out to me on a relay chat and that it came from a Stamford connection, and that it took place at midnight Eastern Standard Time on Monday morning,” said Wikipedia.org volunteer coordinator Cary Bass. “I called and left a message with the police department.”

The computer-generated time and date stamp of the Benoit entry are listed as 4:01, 25 June 2007. Wikipedia.org lists its entries according to Universal Time, also known as Greenwich Mean Time.

A message left by FOXNews.com with Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department was not immediately returned.

Investigators so far have ruled the Benoit killings as a double homicide-suicide.

Wikipedia.org claims to be one of the largest reference Web sites, and is written collaboratively by users from around the world. Approved users can make submissions and change entries that are posted on the site almost immediately. Bass said the site is constantly monitored to correct inaccuracies.

Bass said when there is a high-profile case, such as the Benoit killlings, Wikipedia.org limits postings to registered users, which is now indicated at the top of the Benoit entry. According to the listed history on the Benoit entry, the computer used to post the 12:01 a.m. entry had a Stamford, Conn., Internet Protocol — or IP — address, a numeric designation that is assigned to every computer with an Internet connection, and that same address has been used to post about a dozen other messages on the site, dating back to May 16, 2007.

FOXNews.com also has learned, through widely posted Web reports, that former pro wrestler Sherri Martel, who was found dead on June 15, was linked to former wrestler Kevin Sullivan — ex-husband of Nancy Benoit.

Martel, who had a reputation as one of the top managers in pro wrestling, was found dead at her mother’s home in near Birmingham, Ala., on June 15. She was 49.

Investigators, who have not yet determined Martel's cause of death, say foul play is not suspected but that Martel did not die of natural causes.

Nun gibt es ja trotzdem mehrere Möglichkeiten!
-Er könnte nichts von dem Tod, sodnern nur von dem blutspucken, oder der persönlichen sache gewusst haben, und sich irgendwie vertippt haben!(Extrem unwahrscheinlich)
-Es könnte ein Freund von Benoi gewesen sein, der es von ihm erfahren hat!(NAJA)
- Doer was ich am ehesten glaube, und was mich am meisten schockieren würde, es war ein WWE Mitarbeiter!

Ich meine, WENN das stimmt mit dem Eintrag auf Wikipedia, und es scheint zustimmen, dann muss ja jemand in Stamford am Sonntag schon gewusst haben das Nancy Tod ist.

Officials raid office of Benoit's doctor
ATLANTA (AP) -- Federal drug agents and sheriff's officials raided the office of pro wrestler Chris Benoit's personal physician in search of records and other items, an official said Thursday.

The raid at Dr. Phil Astin's office in Carrollton began Wednesday night and concluded early Thursday, said agent Chuvalo Truesdell, a spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Administration in Atlanta.

A search warrant obtained by the Fayette County Sheriff's Department in connection with the Benoit investigation was executed there, he said.

No arrests were made and Truesdell was unable to say what was seized. He said records were among the items being sought, but he could not be more specific.

Astin did not return repeated calls to his cell phone from The Associated Press on Thursday.

Benoit had been under the care of Astin, a longtime friend, for treatment of low testosterone levels. Astin said Wednesday the condition likely originated from previous steroid use.

Astin prescribed testosterone for Benoit in the past but would not say what, if any, medications he prescribed when Benoit visited his office Friday.

Over the weekend, Benoit killed his wife and son and then killed himself at their home in Fayetteville.

Anabolic steroids were found in Benoit's home, leading officials to wonder whether the drugs played a role in the slayings. Some experts believe steroids cause paranoia, depression and violent outbursts known as "roid rage."

Benoit's Doc Has History of Shady Prescription Practices

TMZ has learned that the personal physician who saw Chris Benoit just hours before the wrestler killed his wife and son once had his medical license suspended for "repeatedly prescribing several controlled substances to patients in excessive quantities or for excessive periods of time and prescribing for other than legitimate purposes."

According to records from the Georgia State Board of Medical Examiners, Phil Carroll Astin was found guilty of engaging in "unprofessional conduct" in 1992 by overprescribing a plethora of pills including amphetamines, antidepressants, tranquilizers and narcotics to various patients. Chris Benoit was not among those mentioned in the case.

As a result, the medical board suspended Astin's license for 30 days, put him on 5 years probation and fined him $2000. Astin was reinstated in 1997, following the completion of his sentence.

Astin's offices were located in Carrollton, Georgia -- a small college town about 50 miles from Benoit's home.

TMZ has also obtained Medical Board records which show that Dr. Astin was suspended again in 2001 for "reasons related to competence or character."

Early Thursday morning, authorities raided Dr. Astin's office in connection with Benoit investigation. Officials claim they seized medical records, but no arrests were made. According to the AP, Astin has admitted to prescribing testosterone to Benoit in the past, but has not commented on what, if anything, he prescribed to the wrestler on Friday.

Calls to Dr. Astin were not immediately returned

However, user is using a spoof IP address via Stamford. Rerouting process automatically adjusts timestamp to make it look like Stamford zone.

Because the time of the message has now been 'corrected' twice, it appears to have come from the past.

It's Kim Nielsen aka "Desire". I had the honor of the "teachings" from Chris, and I am beyond shocked of the recent tragedy. If I had to bet all my money on who would do such a "thing", Chris would be the LAST person I would put my money on. I think that there are a lot of "hidden secrets" of wrestling that no one wants to speak of, and this is costing enormous family hardship. Someone has to finally expose the "wrestling industry" for what it TRULY is. I am willing to tell the truth. Not a single soul should have to live with the way these men and women are treated. They are just a "dime a dozen" in McMahons' eyes. He is laughing all the way to the bank!

Well, by now the whole world knows of the horrible news that took place this week. With all of the comments and messages from people saying how sorry they are for our loss, I figured I would speak in general. I am 100% in agreeance with WWE and Mr. McMahon on completely erasing all tributes to Chris Benoit. While he had always been nice and polite to me and most of the WWE talent, what he did is completely disgusting and unforgivable! This man who could have been a legend has demolished his reputation. My heart goes out to Nancy and the adorable Daniel and the family and friends they left behind!

How Can This Be?

I can not begin to articulate my feelings about the tragedy in the Benoit family. It is something I am really struggling to comprehend.
I heard the news late Monday afternoon just as I was sitting down in a business meeting in Pittsburgh, I sat stunned as I listned to DDP on the other end of the phone, trying to tell me what happened. My meeting went very late into the evening and there was little new information when I went to bed.

My phone rang at 7am on Tues and the caller ID revealed a 404 area code. Assuming it was someone that I used to work with in the area, I answered the phone. It was a local sports/talk show in the Atlanta area and they wanted to get my comments. I hesitated, but since the radio personality was a friend of a friend, I decided to go ahead.

The questions started out ok...what one would normally expect in a situation like this. However they quickly turned into a "who's to blame" line of questioning and went down hill from there.

It's really impossible anymore to be honest about something as tragic and emotionally charged as this issue without sounding like I have some kind of "hidden agenda". Its clear that the media wants to blame steroids, professional wrestling, Vince McMahon, or anyone or anything else that further sensationalizes this family tragedy.

I refuse to join the choir.

I don't have enough information. I wasn't there. I am not a psychiatrist. I just can't imagine how or why this could have happened.

God bless Nancy and Daniel. God forgive Chris Benoit.

@ossyac: Natuerlich ist die WWE Wellness Policy nicht ernst zunehmen. Es steht sogar in den Regeln der Wellness Policy das ein Wrestler alles nehmen kann, solange es von einem Arzt verschrieben wurde. Und es ist kein Problem das zu uebergehen, weil irgendwo findet man immer einen Arzt, der einem etwas verschreibt. Ganz abgesehen davon das jeder WWEler nur drei-viermal im Jahr getestet wird, was ja der eigentliche Witz ist.Mit anderen Worten, WWE sagt das Chris Benoit im April negativ getestet wurde. Das mag ja stimmen, aber das heisst nicht das Chris Benoit im April clean war!

Die Diskussion um die Steroide geht mir von den Medien sowieso mittlerweile auf die nerven, viel entscheidender fuer mich sind da die Medikamente die Chris Benoit offenbar in seinem Haus hatte. Wie die Polizei sagte, in Benoit`s Haus wurden jede Menge verschreibungspflichtige Medikamente gefunden. Da muesste man mal nachfragen, nicht sich auf die Steroide einschiessen, nein die Medikamente die er von Aerzten bekam! Wieso hatte er denn soviele verschreibungspflichtige Medikamente? Das ist doch die Frage die man stellen muss, und nicht: Wurde er im April negativ getetest auf Steroide? Ich meine selbst Stevie Wonder koennte bestaetigen das Chris Benoit seit 10 Jahren auf Roids war, das ist keine Neuigkeit.

wenn dieses aufgepumte schon mal nicht mehr so "in" sondern eher "verpöhnt" wäre dann wäre das ein erster schritt!

im großen und ganzen muß ich vince schon wieder mal fast in schutz nehmen!
(klar weiß er was abgeht, aber er sichert sich ab)!

ausserdem: was will man ihm nun konkret vorwerfen?
er testet ja die leute!
und dazu kommt noch das sich ein vince bestimmt nicht erlauben darf das ER seinen leuten verbietet das sie sachen nehmen die ihnen von ärzten verschrieben wird!

was mich generell anätzt ist die sache das heute 99 % der fans trauern und bestüzt sind und am nächsten wochenende wieder einem batze zujubeln!

Die Tests sind ein Witz! Vince weiss das selbst am besten das seine Tests nur ein reiner PR Gag sind, damit die Oeffentlichkeit beruhigt wird. Wenn er wirklich etwas machen wuerde, dann koennte man ihm keinen Vorwurf machen, aber er macht ja nicht wirklich etwas dagegen, er erzaehlt nur der Oeffentlichkeit das er etwas dagegen macht. Grosser Unterschied!

Zumal Vince McMahon sich auch schuldig macht, weil das Produkt was er zeigt, die Steroide, Painkiller etc foerdert! Es ist kein Geheimniss das die “Big Guys“ bei WWE den vorzug erhalten, und gepusht werden. Wer Steroide nimmt, wird gepusht! Wer Verletzungen nicht auskuriert, behaelt seinen Job! McMahon`s Praeferenzen sollten mittlerweile jedem klar sein. Chris Benoit ist doch das beste Beispiel oder Eddie Guerrero, die haetten nie einen World Heavyweight Title oder WWF Championtitle bekommen, wenn sie nicht Roids genommen haetten. JEDEM ist klar, was die Anforderungen an einen WWEler sind!

Es geht aber darum, das Leute die verschiedene Medikamente nehmen, die nicht grundlos nehmen! In jeder Sportart muss man Medikamente vorher anmelden, und bekommt dafuer vielleicht sogar eine Sperre bis man wieder antretten kann. Bei WWE oder im Pro Wrestling allgemein, gibt es das nicht. Wenn also ein Arzt einem ein Medikament verschreibt, dann hat das einen Grund, und dann KANN es auch sein, das man nichtmehr auftretten sollte. Es geht hier ja nicht um Medikamente zu Erkaeltungen oder so etwas unwichtiges, es geht hier um Painkiller, Steroide und Anti Depressionsmittel.
