Jup, war da Mitglied der New Blood, allerdings auch nur für einen sehr kurzen Zeitraum. April 2000 war bis Juni/Juli 2000 war es glaub ich.
Ohne Maske trat er zwischen Februar 1999 und März 2001 für die WCW an.
Und ohne Maske könnte man ihn als Heel noch weniger vermarkten als mit Maske, passt einfach nicht.

An das Interview erinner ich mich auch. Ging wohl darum, dass er nicht nochmal seine mexikanische Heimat verleugnen will. Als er damals die Maske abnahm hat er wohl viele Drohbriefe erhalten und viele Leute haben es ihm auch nie verziehen.

I was strongly against it! I don't think WCW understood what the mask meant to me, to my fans and to my family. It was a very bad move on their behalf. The fans wanted Rey Mysterio with the mask and losing it hurt me a lot. It was also frustrating that it didn't come as the climax to a feud with another masked wrestler, but in a throwaway match. The same thing happened to Juventud and Psicosis and psychologically wise it was a bad move by Eric Bischoff. I think the fans understand that I was in a position where I had no option. I either had to lose my mask or lose my job.

Hier zur Cruiserweight Division und zum Einsatz von "kleinen" Leuten im Main Event...

The division kicked off to a certain point but they never put us on top, and when they unmasked us it all came tumbling down. Those in charge of WCW had the mindset that only big men could draw and didn't create new superstars. But wrestling now has changed so much. Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho have all been world champions, but back in WCW they were mainly cruiserweights. Also the top guys in WCW were scared that fans were more interested in watching luchadore action and high-flying moves than big men just going out there and stomping on each other for 10 minutes. The heavyweights were getting into Eric Bischoff's ear, saying: "We can't let these guys be on top. They're small and wrestling has never been about this, we've got to keep the tradition going." It was stupid for Eric Bischoff, who was running a huge company like WCW, to listen to other people. Vince McMahon runs his own company and does what he wants to do, as did Paul Heyman. Wrestling is about what the fans want, not what the boys want.

Auch wenn er mal so ne Art Heel war (eher Tweener), halte ich es für nicht so gut ihn turnen zu lassen. Er ist imo vor allem bei den Kindern viel zu beliebt und deshalb sollte man damit lieber vorsichtig sein... Auch eben wegen dem Merchandise (vor allem seine Masken!!)... :winke:

Rey turnt Heel und demaskiert sich danach? Das ist etwa so wenn ich Taker bei den nächsten TNA Tapings sehen würde 8-)

Aber an sich wäre es ein WTF-Moment, der ziemlich interessant sein könnte ;)

Aber einen Turn kann man nahezu ausschließen, was ja auch immer wieder gesagt wurde

Ich frage mich nur welche Hintergründe die Tat von Mysterio erklären würde... "Batista... Du bist mir nur immer im Weg gestanden!"

Wirkt lächerlich und ist es auch.

ich denke beim Match wird der Turn stattfinden, ggf. vielleicht zur entscheidenen Aktion. Ich bin mittlerweile auch sehr angetan von der Idee
