World Wrestling Entertainment Kicks-Off Road To WrestleMania XX Tour; Plans to Visit Fans at More Than 45 Stops Along Nationwide Tour
STAMFORD, Conn.-- Dec. 31, 2003--World Wrestling Entertainment™ kicks off the New Year with the launch of a nationwide "Road to WrestleMania® XX Tour" to promote the 20th edition of the greatest spectacle in sports entertainment, WrestleMania.
The tour starts on Saturday, January 3, 2004, in California and ends in New York City on Sunday, March 14, at WrestleMania XX at Madison Square Garden.
A custom-designed and branded Chevrolet Suburban complete with a 12-foot trailer, a 42-inch flat screen television with surround sound, will take the WrestleMania XX team across the country for the next three-months. There are 46-stops scheduled in cities from Los Angeles to New York. Event venues will include more than 20 Wal-Marts and five House of Blues entertainment complexes.
"The WWE has always been about its fans", said John Sohigian, Vice President, Partnership Marketing. "The Road to WrestleMania XX Tour gives us the opportunity to touch local communities to reconnect with former fans, have some fun with our current fans, and bring some new fans into the fold right before our biggest event of the year, WrestleMania XX."
At each event location, the WrestleMania promo team, which includes former WWE™ Superstar Hillbilly Jim, will meet and greet fans with WrestleMania trivia contests, video game competitions, temporary tattoos and much more. Through Momentum's innovative E-Photo system, fans can receive customized, full-color photos of themselves at the local event in their community via e-mail and a link to wrestlemania.com. Once there, they can vote online for their favorite WrestleMania moments of all time and be entered to win weekly prizes, including customized WrestleMania XX Gibson guitars.
Current WWE Superstars will join the Tour at specific tour stops for special autograph and photo sessions.
Visitors to each event will have the opportunity to register to vote as part of WWE's "Two Million More in 2004" campaign. Representatives from the partnership of WWE's SmackDown Your Vote® and Russell Simmons' Hip Hop Summit Action Network will be on hand to work towards registering two million new voters in time for the 2004 elections.
Tour sponsors include WWE licensees THQ, Fleer and Trinity Products as well as House of Blues and Gibson Guitars.
