Dave Meltzer ueber die WWE Cruiserweight Division
#1
Auszug aus dem WON diese Woche:

Zitat:The issue in doing the division correctly is that it can’t be secondary. In time, WCW, which had all the talent in the world, ended up failing their talent by making cruiserweight synonymous with secondary small guys who give good action but are jobbers to the stars and not in key programs. Even in New Japan, which has decades of history with it, there is the frustration of the delineation of heavies and junior heavies, especially with all the talent in the junior heavies, and that Ibushi (at 187 pounds) and Prince Devitt (Finn Balor, at about 185 pounds) were “moved” to heavies and there was no issue with them facing and beating the big guys from the fans, and they were big successes at that size. WWE’s historical track record is even worse. If you look at the tournament guys, you’d figure Gran Metalik (who is a lock to be coming in given WWE has just applied to trademark the name), Tajiri, Cedric Alexander, perhaps Akira Tozawa (Tozawa is main eventing and challenging for the Open the Dream Gate title on Dragon Gate’s next show so this would either be a move to keep him or a big farewell), Drew Gulak and Jack Gallagher, Jinzo (Raul Mendoza), or even Brian Kendrick as a comeback story would all be good to have in the division, but you really need to start it out a Jushin Liger or a Rey Mysterio superstar to head it. I’m not even sure Sabre’s style would make him the guy, although Ibushi clearly could be. And Ibushi is agreeable to working here but it appears he doesn’t want to come full-time, at least based on what he’s saying, so do they build the division and put the title on a guy who will be in for a few major shows but not there every week? On the NXT conference call, Paul Levesque said that for the cruiserweight division on Raw they are looking at talent exclusive to WWE, although he’s open on NXT to perhaps single shots like he did for Jushin Liger
