**********VERSION 1.0 FOR EWR 1.4 **********

Version 1.0 has over 900 wrestlers, 300 staff members, over 150 sponsors and 30 TV networks. All errors in the game such as wrong dispositions, wrong TV shows, wrong days of the week for the show or even doubles of wrestlers (a wrestler with more than 2 gimmicks would be double wrestlers) should be reported to belial1134@hotmail.com
Or on the best of the 80s scenario thread on the EWR board.

Installing
There are 2 folders in the zip file, a 'data' and 'gfx' folder.
There are some 25 NEW loading screens, capturing wrestlers from the 80s. They are all in the folder 'gfx'. Copy and paste this into your current GFX folder and it will overwrite them. If you wish, backup your folder first in case you want to use any of the original screens.
Copy and paste all files in the 'data' folder into your original data directory. Again, backup your original data files.

**********INTRODUCTION**********

Welcome to the 1980's, a time period no one should or will forget. Living through the 80's was one of the best times for wrestling in general. Back then wrestling was considered "the shit" and many, many people followed and watched on their television sets their favorite wrestlers such as Ric Flair, Randy Savage, and Andre the Giant ever time it was on!

Your job as the head promoter of the promotion you choose is to either relive the history of the 80's, and or change it to your pleasure. Just realize, that whatever you choose to do, there may be consequences in the future. "SO WHAT YOU GONNA DO"?

********** MORE BACKGROUND**********

Wrestling in the 80's was very popular and drew tremendous television ratings along with huge amounts of fans joining in live where the action was. Many of the greatest matches and feuds were included in this time period. Such feuds as Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat, and matches such as the very hyped match between Andre The Giant and Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 3. Although tremendous amounts of crowds watched and saw wrestling live, money for these promotions was very tight. Many smaller promotions closed due to bankruptcy or just couldn't compete with the three big promotions (AWA, WWF, and NWA). The Game 1979, belial1134, zglo and pmshand86 of the EWR Boards would like to present to you, the best of the 80's scenario. Your options are below, have fun and enjoy.

**********EXTRA INFO**********

Wanna make it more realistic and actually play EWR in the 80's? Well go to your start bar and right click on the time. Then select "Adjust Time/Date". Then set your clocks to December 1979. Then, start up EWR and choose one of the options below. Once you have started the game, go back and do the same thing you did before with the dates except set it back to the correct date.

**********SOME OPTIONS**********

PNCW- Don Owen

PNCW was founded by Don Owen in 1925 and has gone by such names as "Portland Wrestling" and "Big Time Wrestling". With PNCW's very underrated talent such as Brian Adams, Scotty the Body (Raven), Billy Jack Haynes and Ricky Santana they made their way through the 80's struggling, but when one of their oldest sponsors filed for bankruptcy, Tom Peterson, that hit the nail on the head. They continued to struggle their way into the early 90's when in 1991, Don Owen finally closed the promotion. With $1,000,000 and a small TV show, can you change history and pull PNCW out of their struggle and get up with the two big boys, NWA, and WWF?

GCW- Jim Barnett

In 1979, GCW became the first promotion to broadcast a TV show on cable TV. Their show on WTBS became the first ever two hour broadcast on cable TV in 1980. GCW had one of the best produced shows during their reign on cable TV. They drew huge crowds and great TV ratings. During 1983-1984 while TV ratings were still high, their talent decreased along with their crowds. In June 1984, the WWF took over the GCW TV time slot and GCW began to fade completely away in 1985. With GCW with a TV spot on WTBS, $2,000,000 in the bank and with great stars such as Masked Superstar and Ole Anderson, can you take the once great GCW back up to its high TV ratings and large audiences and compete with NWA and the WWF?

STLWC- Sam Mushnick

STLWC was a very strict wrestling promotion. They did not allow any outside interference and all the power in the ring lied with the referee; any contact with the referees would also not be tolerated. The production of their show "Wrestling at the Chase" was very basic. They had no entry music, no blood or it was very rare, and no talking on the house mic's and even no fireworks. Although their production was basic, they still had sell out crowds. Sam Mushnick ran this promotion like this from 1950's until his retirement in 1982. The promotion still went on but it finally closed in 1986. As STLWC, with $2,500,000, such stars as ***,***,*** and ***, and a TV show on Sundays, can you change history? Can you make STLWC number 1 with their strict wrestling rules or will you be forced to change that?

CSTATE- Bob Geigel

The Central States was a composition of such states as Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and Illinois. The Central States had a television program on a local channel in Kansas by the name of "All Star Wrestling" which was filmed on Thursdays. Wrestlers such as Harley Race, and "Bulldog" Bob Brown wrestled in the Central States area. As The Central States, you have $3,000,000, a TV spot, a risk of 30% and such greats as Harley Race and "Bulldog" Bob Brown.

WWC- Victor Jovica

A Puerto Rican promotion, WWC had some of the great well known wrestlers of the 80's. Such as Abdullah The Butcher and local talent such as Carlos Colón who also helped bring the promotion to life. There were many fans of wrestling in Puerto Rico since the 50's. But many fans did not follow WWC until 1974, where the crowds began to come in. The WWC became so huge that it was known as one of the Top Five Promotions in the world and even one of the big three in the USA. After the death of Bruiser Brody, WWC soon had a fall. But they made their way through the 80's with both good and bad times and are still up and running today. As the World Wrestling Council, with $3,500,000, a risk of 85% and poor production, can you take WWC into a global force?

CSW- Helen Hart

As some of you know, the Stampede wrestling promotion was a Canadian promotion. Stampede wrestling had many great stars such as the Dynamite Kid, Davey Boy Smith, and Bret Hart. However, in the 80s', most of these stars departed to other big promotions such as NWA or the WWF. When these stars disappeared so did Stampede for a while. But Stu Hart later found new rising stars such as Chris Benoit, Brian Pillman, Ben Bassarab, and Owen Hart. Soon again Stampede wrestling was up and running again. And here we are now, in the 1980's. As the Canadian promotion, with a TV spot on Saturdays, $4,000,000 in the bank, and with such rising stars as Chris Beniot and Brian Pillman, can you make the Canadian promotion a global force that can compete with NWA or the WWF?

AWA- Verne Gagne

Wally Karbo and Verne Gagne founded the American Wrestling Association. The AWA was created because of the title unification dispute between NWA Champion Lou Thesz and Eduardo Carpentier. Eduardo Carpentier had won the 2 out of 3 falls match but one of the wins was by DQ, so this caused the problems between the NWA and many other small promoters. As the NWA and the WWWF (WWF) grew bigger, the AWA began getting the tools to grow bigger. Eventually the AWA became the number 3 top promotion in the United States behind the WWF and the NWA. In the 80's, wrestling had begun focusing on TV ratings and attendance ratings. In 1979, Verne Gagne had signed one of the most over rated and very charismatic wrestlers of all time, Hulk Hogan. In the beginning Hogan was not recognized for his talent but his charisma. But Gagne made a huge mistake by pushing his older talent over his younger talent such as Hulk Hogan and Scott Hall. After the World Title match between AWA champion Nick Bockwinkel and Hulk Hogan with Bockwinkel retaining his title after a reverse decision, Hogan left for the WWF and received the WWF World Title almost days after he entered. After losing Hogan, Gagne began to lose his fan base as the WWF's grew. After a downfall in the early 80's the AWA began focusing on young talent such as the Midnight Rockers (Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty) and Curt Hennig. As AWA you have young talent such as the Midnight Rockers and Curt Hennig, $8,500,000 in the bank, and a TV show on ESPN, can you prevent what Vince McMahon will do to the AWA in the late 80's (steal all talented and all top draws) and some how reverse the future and take all of McMahon's talent?

WWF- Vincent J. McMahon

WWWF being formed by Vincent J. McMahon and Toots Mondt after a World Title dispute between NWA World Champion Lou Thesz and Buddy Rogers, was later shortened to the World Wrestling Federation in 1979. After defeating the first ever WWWF Champion Buddy Rogers, Bruno Sammartino became the man that helped make what the WWWF was. His seven year title reign and his traveling all over the United States drew huge amounts of crowds making the WWWF one of the most popular wrestling promotions. The man who defeated Sammartino was "The Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff who only held the World title for three months after being defeated by Pedro Morales. Not being big as the face Sammartino was, Morales struggled to keep the huge crowds as champion and soon the WWWF had a new threat, Tony Santos who ran a Boston promotion, which directly competed with the WWWF. In sort of a cheap but smart tactic, McMahon joined back with the NWA to get bigger stars to compete on his shows and to make his threat disappear. During the WWWF's reign under the NWA, many WWWF champions were crowned such as Superstar Billy Graham and Bob Backlund who later became known as the first WWF Champion as Vince McMahon Jr. changed the WWWF's name in 1979. Soon later Backlund dropped the title and gained it back to become a two time WWF Champion. Soon afterward he was defeated by the Iron Sheik who was later defeated by new recruit Hulk Hogan and from that day forward, wrestling was said to be changed. As the WWF, with several television spots, $10,000,000 and such 80's stars as Andre The Giant and Hulk Hogan, can you make the WWF the number one company across the globe?
